Local Training Event was held on the 6th April 2018.

The Ministry for Gozo (MGOZ) and the Malta Intelligent Energy Management Agency (MIEMA) organised a 1-day training event in the framework of the SHERPA and NEW FINANCE transnational projects which are co-funded under the Interreg MED programme. Both projects fall under the programme thematic area of “Efficient Buildings” and focus on energy renovation projects in public buildings.

The aim of the event, which was held at the Ministry for Gozo in Victoria, was to provide training to public authorities in relation to the use of innovative financing models, particularly Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) that can be used for the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources (RES) projects in public buildings. The training session was led by Ing. Filippo Intreccio, who was invited by MIEMA as an expert in energy management with years of experience in assisting Italian municipalities in the implementation and financing of energy related projects.

Various local stakeholders attended the training event, including mayors, representatives of the Department of Local Councils, the Gozo Business Chamber, the Gozo Regional Committee and staff members of the Ministry that are responsible for different buildings located in Gozo. The attendees actively participated in the discussions that were held during the training and expressed their interest in the use of innovative financing models for the implementation of energy refurbishment projects.
