From Efficient Buildings to Green Living Areas
Efficient Buildings Community's Final Event
5-6 October 2022 | Limassol, Cyprus
The conference
The Mediterranean basin is an area of exchange and friction representing both a connecting sea and a frontier between mature economies and developing countries. A fair ecological transition could bring contradictions into unity while turning constraints and disparities into great opportunities for a sustainable growth of the whole area. Being aware of this strategic positioning, the Interreg MED Efficient Buildings Community is organizing its final event on green living in the Mediterranean with the aim of providing possible solutions by suggesting possible policies and tools to overcome geographical, institutional and sectoral divisions among the different areas.
The event - taking stock of the experience of the Efficient Buildings Community (national and sub-national institutions, private professionals, etc.) – will provide concrete examples of actions and political advice on all the aspects related to the energy issue in the Mediterranean countries in light of the new geopolitical context. The discussion will overcome the traditional sectoral divisions, by proposing a broader, more systemic and more inclusive approach to sustainable development in the Mediterranean basin.
The event is also meant to be an opportunity to meet and to find new partners for future initiatives on the green living areas of the Mediterranean basin.

Programme
The conference is a two-day event. The first day is devoted to overcoming traditional sectoral distinctions in the world of sustainable energy. In the morning, two panel discussions with representatives from European institutions and energy agencies will open the discussion. In the afternoon, there will be an opportunity to network and establish new collaborations for future projects in the Mediterranean area.
The second day is devoted to crossing the boundaries of the Interreg MED programme's cooperation area, connecting with representatives from countries on the southern and eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea. In the morning it will be set a round table discussion among the different stakeholders to foster cooperation in the Mediterranean area.
