New EU Targets for Energy

The European Parliament adopts the Commission's legislative proposals for the "Clean Energy for All Europeans" package

On Tuesday 13 November 2018, the European Parliament adopted four (out of eight) legislative proposals in the 2016 Clean Energy for All Europeans package. It is an important milestone for the fulfillment of the European Commission political priorities and for the achievement of clean energy transition.

The text adopted by the parliament sets the targets for 2030 and simplifies the administrative procedures to unlock renewable energy penetration and energy efficiency investments. The target for renewable energy in EU by 2030 is 32%, while the target for energy efficiency in 2030 is 32,5%. Those objectives can be reviewed by 2023, but they cannot be lowered.

One of the main instruments to fulfill these ambitions is the National Energy and Climate Plan, that Member States have to define by 2019 in order to really implement the Energy Union. The plans will define the legislative regulations for the period 2021-2030 and they will be also the main instruments to achieve the European objectives for the Paris Agreement and to reduce greenhouse gases emission of 45% by 2030.

These new ambitious energy targets call for important commitment of all Europeans and the Efficient Buildings Community is ready! Modular Projects' solutions will help public authorities to achieve these objectives.
