On 1 March 2022, the University of Patras – Department of Civil Engineering, partner of the Efficient Buildings Community, organized the webinar “Making our School Buildings Energy Efficient". School buildings across Mediterranean countries are numerous and often are some of the most energy consuming public buildings. In this regard, it is very important to support the entities and the people who are responsible for the management of these buildings to understand that making them energy efficient is not an option; instead it is a need posed by the current environmental situation and the European policies. In particular, existing buildings’ renovation is a key priority within the new EU Green Deal, which calls for a “Renovation Wave” so as to accelerate the achievement of strategic EU targets, also supporting towards the recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the above context, the webinar brought together experts from Mediterranean countries to discuss methodologies and tools that can be used to support school owners in developing, implementing and monitoring energy renovation plans for their school building stock.

Many participants attended the webinar representing several Mediterranean countries and they exchanged interactively with the speakers. Below you can find the speakers’ presentations and the recording of the session.
